Postcard: I Heart Dr. Myles Werntz

Dear Myles (from God in the Details, which is to say, as not to say,
Taking off and Landing),

Without you, and a little help from the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, I
never would have developed the love in my heart for Friedrich
Bonhoeffer. Today, as I browsed the aisles of a German bookstore in
Kaiserslautern, my heart fluttered with joy as I found a section
devoted to our noble hero, our eternal martyr. I bought you a gift, a
small token that I know you and you alone will treasure, a sign of
gratitude from me to you. While I perpetually fail to remember to
send you my AIM screen name, I will succeed in sending you something
from across the Atlantic.

German theology and our dear Friedrich, two wings on the golden door
of our electronic friendship.

Yours,
Michael (from the internet, aka Kimberley's sailing partner)

Dearest Michael,
I hope this letter finds you doing well. I've been reading your blog but not commenting which is kind of against the rules, but go with it. I hope you get a chance to go to Munich. That's where I lost my first front tooth and saw a man naked for the first time...(We went to the spa in our hotel and nude men were walking around. Needless to say my dad wasn't too impressed, being that I was 7 years of age). I hope you are enjoying yourself, it seems as though you are. You would make a great doctor, you should really consider medical school. Hey, I'm glad you have a lamp in your room because I can only imagine how horrible the lighting is with the overheads. That's one of the first things I noticed. With that said, enjoy yourself on your excursions and try not to mingle with the Germans. Kidding! Bffe

p.s. it's Deitrich Bonhoeffer, though. but you can call him Friedrich. I'd ask his mom first, though.
