Yesterday, a round of applause distracted me from eating my peanut butter cookies at lunch. Since those cookies are the best part of my day other than talking to Rebecca, I hoped it was something good. I looked up and saw the US Mens National Soccer Team, here in Germany for the World Cup. They had lunch and signed autographs, and wouldn't you know it, I got tickets for the game later that day. So tomorrow night I'm going to see US play Poland. My first World Cup game. Ever. It only happens once every four years--I always luck out!
From the teams website: (about the game and how they're staying right next door on base)
U.S. MNT Touches Down in Kaiserslautern, Germany, in Advance of March 1 Match vs. Poland
CAMPING IN K-TOWN: The U.S. Men's National Team descended into Kaiserslautern, Germany, on Sunday to begin preparations for their March 1 World Cup against Poland (2 p.m. ET, ESPN 2). The U.S.-based players touched down beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, with a total of 13 players arriving in time for a light training session at the grounds of FC Kaiserslautern.
ON BASE: The team is being housed under the watchful eye of the U.S. military on the Ramstein Air Base. Located in the German state of Rhineland-Pfalz near the city of Ramstein-Meisenbach, just 15 kilometers from Kaiserslautern, the military facility is home to the second largest U.S. overseas community at more than 50,000 people. It also houses one of the major medical facilities that treats wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 100 geographically separated units around the world receive support from Ramstein, and all branches of the military are represented on base. The military and associated services in the area annually contribute more than one billion dollars to the local community.

Hey MW, well my chalk made the front page, and I was in the picture! You should go to the txstate web site and check it out. We did a mock deployment, we got to carry around rubber duckies(M16's) and our rucksacks, super fun I know. Well till next time, take care of your self and dont get the brid flu!!!! 2.1 million people are expected to die in the US(worse case scenario) so just imagine Germany . . . .
What! WTF!! No bagpipes? No wedding. Jk--I'd be happy to let you run the whole show A-Town. I heard there's not boat rides after dark but surely we can get around that. We're jumping in the river after the wedding. Just so ya know...
DB, I'm really happy you've found a good place to fit in. It beats the drug habbit and heavy metal (that comment was mostly for Nikki)... Anyways, where do I go to see your pic? I'd love to post it! We've got PT at 4:30am tomorrow in a blizzard. Oh my gosh, my life is nuts. Yeah, Germany is going down with bird flu.
Still,
Mykull
