Volcanoes and Surnames

rice

You give me miles and miles of mountains
And I'll ask for the sea

This is nothing new
No, no just another phase of finding what I really need-
Is what makes me bleed
And like a new disease Lord,
she's still too young to treat

Damien Rice, with whom I share not only a last name but also nationality, has quickly become my new artist. Poignant lyrics, accoustic driven songs, and the occasional string arrangement have made his entrance into my I'm a white, twenty-something college undergrad who plays guitar musical catalogue smooth. I'm not afraid to admit it. Go ahead-methodize me.

These days, what with the Dailyrice, Damien, and old Condoleza, the Rice name seems to be approaching zennith. These are good days; warm sun, strong mind and body, good friends, all in the midst of a surname apex. Perhaps I've methodized myself.

I came by your blog to see how it's going with you =). Though that's sad of me, it made me happy to hear that you're not a fan of promise rings. And you're in good company with Condoleeza (she's black, right!) =) ((No black person I know shares my last name)) See ya!

Not to mention the ever-adorable, always amusing Austin, Bill and John!

Mariah,
I know! Condi is black! Don't forget Jerry Rice as well! The African American community is full of Rice's. Lucky me :) Black people are just cooler; it's a fact...
See you tonight! Tacos?
