Simple Things

Life is full of distractions. TVs, videogames, facebook, cars, bigger and better stuff. Everywhere you look it's the newest thing. I admit, I fall victim to it too, despite my efforts not to do so. The culture has made it so... easy.

More and more, however, the things I enjoy the most are simple. Take my accoustic guitar--12 frets, six strings, a world of beauty and possibility without a single battery. That's just the start. My two dogs, my hammock, my wife, art, exercise, dusk, the outdoors, road trips (even just thinking about them), breaking the top of a creme brule. You know what I mean.

Facebook and blogging are a lot of things, but they are never as good as the real thing. A real conversation, a real cup of coffee with a friend, a real thing to laugh about with someone.

There are a lot of cool distractions out there and you can use a lot of them for good or to just waste time. But there's no app for things like sitting on a hammock on a cloudy day with two puppies. It was so good that I just had to... blog about it.
