This entire war effort has become sickening. The state of things now and the administrations reluctance to change course, it's unreal. It's unacceptable. How much longer is Bush going to give us the same, tired rhetoric?
This is exactly what I'm talking about
There aren't words to describe the things I'm seeing or the sadness I feel. And none of it will show up on CNN.
You know, I don't even want to write about it. I'm done.

It's always good to have military personnel bad mouth the army and commander in which they serve. Be very careful with your blogs. I think you should read your general orders and rules manuel again, since you are still in the Army; before you continue to blog about your feelings about the war. I think you deserve an Honorable Discharge and nothing less. You might want to remove that last post.
If I can read this, everyone can.
Michael sees a part of the war that none of you as well as myself can even begin to understand. He sees the reality of the war that is going on right now. He sees the busses full of soldiers hanging on for dear life that seem to be multiplying and increasingly appearing day by day. And as I'm sure you can conclude from common sense, the Iraqi civilian toll is repulsively high. Even the troops are lied to as they prepare to go across or "down range" a term no one feels good about. Tell me, if things are improving and going so well as Bush proclaims, why I will probably have to go another year without my husband. They have pulled so many soldiers that they are pulling the very last to go. I assure you it doesn't make any sense to anyone here. Please don't pretend to know what's going on in this war since very few people know the complete truth. I assure you, there's is no way of knowing through the news.
The comment by concerned friend is pretty lame. Obviously, they don't know what they're talking about. The best part about America is the freedom to criticize. If a dishonorable discharge was the penalty for voicing concerns, then 99% of active military would be in bad shape.
Not concerned,
Michael
And for the record, I'm not badmouthing the Army. The Army is the young men and women who come in missing arms and legs. The Army is the men and women who I work with and greatly admire (and Air Force/Marines). Also, I'm wondering what the "general orders and rules manuel" is. More so, what is a "manuel" anyways??
Not anonymous,
Michael
I love my friends. I have the best ones in the world. One great thing about my friends: They have names.
Michael
I happen to be the one percent. Just be careful with what you write. It demoralizes me and the others who are actually doing the fighting and not making field trips on the taxpayers nickel. I am proud that I am actually serving and doing my part. I only wish I could play around and not sleep on dirt everynight like I did for over one year. But I am proud and scared. Thank goodness that 99 percent was not around when Hitler was minding his own business. This concerned friend is still concerned. Hang in there Michael. Things will get better. I know this post makes you angry, but you opened a very opinionated subject. You should not have pulled that scab off. Keep dishwashing your medical insturments and I will do the real dirty work for you when I go back.
Sorry about that last post. I got angry like you. We all are doing are part, including you, to try and keep our children safe in the future.
My bad, I guess you have never made a typo?
Actually, Michael is saving lives, literally of the soldiers whose faces, arms, legs, stomachs, and anything else you can imagine have been blown off. Hopefully you'll never have to end up in his operating room or I think you might have to thank him for saving YOUR life while he is wrist deep in YOUR stomach, covered in YOUR blood. And let me ask you, what is the real dirty work? Blowing other people up? You are so courageous. You are a part of a nation that has the freedom of speech. How sad that you don't recognize that and yet are continuing to fight for it. I'm glad you are anonomous so that you can continue to remain our "friend".
Wow, what a hot topic! You have done it now Mr. Michael. This should start landslide of replys.
Proud to Be America (even though I am not citizen yet...soon, I am hope)
Both very good points...I call it a draw...
How sad it is when two courageous people pick at each other like this. I don't imagine either of you have walked in the other ones shoes (or in Bush's shoes), so perhaps it would be better just to congratulate each other on serving your country and pray that this will all end soon. Thank you both very much for what you are doing for our country and may God bless you both.
Good point, "How Sad". I withdraw from making further comments. God Bless Michael and be careful.
This is all pretty silly, yeah? The silliest part is comparing the Iraq war to WW II. That's like saying Vietnam was the Revolutionary war. Anyways, I mostly wish we could all have names.
An important point: The sodiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are the REAL heros. They are the ones who deserve the respect and credit. My work pales in comparison. I see what happens to them, and it breaks my heart.
So, let's end these comments on the two points that matter most:
The soldiers down range are the true heros and I give all the credit to them. I think they deserve more and better.
Also, freedom of speech is beautiful. I do appreciate all the comments, the ones I agree with and the ones I disagree with. Dialogue is always productive for mature thinkers.
Thanks to all--
Michael
Keep the faith, Michael! You are strong and courageous and serve your country well. And that's admirable in my book.
Sadaam vs Hitler...
Very similar.....Hitler just has a higher death toll so far. Thank goodness Sadaam is behind bars or he may have caught up with him. I think WW II and Iraq quite similar
