Soooo... We're finally back from Switzerland, home of bell-wearing cows and cheese, lots and lots of cheese. It's easily the most beautiful and easy going place in the whole wide world, or at least the thumbnail of earth I've been able to see.
We kind of camped, kind of stayed in a hostel for four days. The hostel culture there is really vibrant--young people from all over the world seeking adventure. 15,000 foot snow capped alps carved into the horizon, two lakes and a river of glacier and snow run off bordered the village. Breath. Taking. Attempts to describe it show either the short comings of language or my imagination. I hope it's mostly the former.
Some brief vignettes, each with a story or two behind them:
-Jumping into a 30 foot, 40 degree waterfall in a full wet suit while canyoning in the Alps, after repelling 60 feet into the canyon itself (the water temp. makes the San Marcos river feel like a hot tub)
-Walking up 990 steps into a mountains fold to see my first glacier, one that is expected to be gone by the time my grand children are born
-Hang gliding from 3,000 feet, the certainty of death gripping me at least twice (I prayed like it was the end before taking off)
-Celebrated a seven month anniversary!!(or three month, depending on where you're counting from)
-Becca and I enticing 30 people out of a club to come outside to watch our tour guide, a six foot seven Hungarian do a sweet jump in the style of Napoleon Dynamite (on this one, you really had to be there-I've only laughed that hard a handful of times)
-Discovered the Jager-Bomb
-Saw a festival that happens once every twelve years
-Signed up for the rock throwing event, hurling 20 kilo stones as far as humanly possible Braveheart style
-A sunset bike ride on Interlaken lake
-Got high on Swiss chocolate with real cocoa
-Some 80's inspired dance moves in the hostel club, during which we upset no less than 20 people from different countries with our awesomeness (they don't understand that's how CRU kids get down for some reason)... Becca crowd surfed
-Played the Alpen Horn, to questionable success
-Defeated crazy and confused Chinese guys in foosball
-And of course, bought a Swiss Army watch
The Jung Frau (Young Woman) peak, 15,000 feet, a rock mecca for climbers from all over the world

I thought to my self... can anything be sweeter than Nun-Chux.... like is that even possible??
then I looked at your first picture and decided its completely awesome (I have never seen that much blue in my life)... so yeah... I GUESS your amaing trip to switzerland, of which I;m totally jealous of, can be better than nun-chux.
That picture at the top is SO great! Hope all is well with you both!
PS: Michael, I have now had 2 male models in my Drawing class, and no females as of yet. You would be surprised at how little of a deal it actually is once you get used to it. this class is actually becoming one of my favorite classes, its very freeing and we drawing wih paint and pastels. just thought i'd update you on that!
Be well,
Amanda
Der Bear,
I miss you man. When we get back, we'll have an OC marathon. I'll be Ryan--and you're totally Seth. It seems like a natural fit for us both.
And A, I wonder if I can do some sort of late enrollment into that course. Better yet, do they offer it in the Spring?? We would, however, need to take it together, so let's discuss this off-line.
Best,
Michael
Very Cool. Did you try the scambled eggs? Ask Me-Maw.
