CRU memories are kind of like a treasure chest, and my memories with Megan are gold. The really good gold. The gold pirates go after.
Today is Megan's birthday. Here on the other side of the Atlantic, it's hard to give her a hug, bake her a cake, write Howie Day song lyrics on a picture of us like I did a year ago.
365 days ago, things were a bit different. Beauty montages were a weekly event, me wearing Megan's wife beater (at times, yes, her more feminine clothing) playing CMM, watching One Tree Hill (our lives hardly inseperable from the show--we all had some Brooke in us), sing "I know I know I know" in cascading falsetto, the bad food at Harris, eating animal crackers, but mostly, just having fun on the futon. It was all gold really and sometimes we even knew it.
And now, there's a part of me that feels I should say those days are gone and we've grown up a little. Maybe they are, maybe they have. But not because we chose to--I'd go back to spend a Tuesday night watching One Tree and jumping up and onto the loft in a second.
All this to say, Happy Birthday Megan! We love you and miss you all the time!

In addition to Rebecca Rice and Michael Rice, there's another Rice who loves you too. That would be John!! I'm sure he'll have a birthday message for you when he gets home from 2nd grade!

YAY! :) that makes me so happy because i love john fo'reals too. and i miss our deep conversations. and i miss him. and the rest of the family. because, well they were amazing!
