Bavaria, Austria, and the Alps

Rothemburg Fussen 121
(And just for the record, you have to hike way off the path to get to this spot--luckily, I have an adventorous wife... risking the thousand foot drop off just behind us was well worth the view)

So it's like 9pm and we just got back. The weekend looked something like this:

-Landstuhl to Rothenberg (a 12th century fortified city... best city in Germany by far)

-Rothenberg to Dachau (yes, the concentration camp... more on that later)

-Dachau to Neuschwanstein (the most beautiful place I've ever been)

-Neuschwanstein to Garmish (on the Austrian border--the Alps are huge--there's a good reason why this town has hosted the Winter Olympics 4 times)

-Garmish to some mountain range where we hiked into Austria

-Home. (And it feels good)

Now I just need a vacation from my vacation, but somehow with surgery starting at 6:45am tomorrow I don't see it happening.

So anyways, here's a few pics. I'll post more (of the couple hundred we took) over the next couple days. Enjoy!

I'm glad to see you representing.
I'm pretty sure you've worn that sweatshirt in half the pictures you've ever taken.

sigh, those photos are breathtaking, wish I could see them all. I esp love the one between the pillars, that has to be one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. Did you miss your calling? :o)
