Viva La France

USAvITALY 003

Legos. Pure legos. My brothers dream about this sort of thing every night. We saw this in Kaiserslautern--it's a replica of one of the World Cup stadiums...

**

The World Cup came to a tragic end almost a week ago. Only now can I reflect on the loss of France, who I so desperately wanted to win. The frenzy that gripped Germany for a month was wonderful. And like so many things I've experienced in Europe thus far, it was something I'll never forget. My luck at times seems to have no limit. (I wonder sometimes, in the quiet hours, how long it will last)

Even Rebecca caught the World Cup fever. She thrilled (read: endured) to each game we watched, cheering (read: staring blankly) each sweet victory and cyring (read: rolling her eyes) to each bitter defeat. We did NOT want Italy to win.

Each game of this years tournament was played out in Germany, yet oddly enough I watched the action from a few different countries. I watched at least one game from:

-San Antonio
-Detroit
-Landstuhl
-Kaiserslautern
-Ramstein
-Paris
-Amsterdam
-Leistig
-Triberg
-Freiberg

Sigh. There's always next year. Well, four years.

Some famous journalist said that it's not news when a dog bites a man, but when the man bites back. Your headline picture reminded me of that. :)

We probably have enough Legos in the house to build that stadium! You and the little ones can work on that when you get home!! And hurry home!

I could send mine to your mom and you could also build the Eiffel Tower and maybe even a mosaic of Mona...
