My heart is sad.
Well I'll try to be really open with my feelings here, which contrary to popular opinion, isn't exactly the guiding principle of the Daily Rice. Things here are pretty hard. Long days, no choices, the recurring fact that I'll be without those I love for some time--it adds up and breaks you down; the toll is heavy.
The thing is that I'm just not used to this sort of thing. I'm used to my safe environment, full of the best friends at school that any guy could ask for, brothers and sisters in Christ who I owe more to than I can express, the greatest family I could ever dream of... And now, while you are all still in my heart and have given me things that can never be taken, I feel very alone and the heart ache is great. It's hard to explain, but I'm learning so much about sacrifice and what it means to be thankful.
Of course, all these problems melt down into an ocean of joy when I hear Rebecca's voice.
We're Europe bound on the 28th, and tomorrow it's off to yet another destination. The blog might be a bit quiet, but I'll post when I can. From what I understand they'll have us in tents doing road marches and shooting guns, all during the course of a day that starts at 4:30am and lasts until 10:00pm. It's so feeble minded--my place is in the operating room helping to save lives, not learning how to fire a weapon that would take one. In short, it's going to get harder before it gets better. Keep the prayers coming my friends.
Nine hour bus ride in nine hours. Really, I'm serious about that prayer thing.

I love you, Michael.
i can't even imagine.
Your heart's sadness makes my heart sad. Thus, no one is happy. So just look at the bright side of things and do your best to be joyful through it all because I certainly know you can do that.
I miss you more that easy cheese, wheat thins, and diet coke on a hot September school day :) I'm praying for you! Call me when you get some free time!

You my friend, are always in my prayers. What you're going through right now is undoubtedly tough, but it's so refreshing to see that you're embracing the lessons you are learning. Way to look at the glass half full! I think of you often and will continue to keep you in my prayers:)
PS. When times get really tough, and I mean REALLY tough, think of Sean getting down at our summer '05 dance party in the Reeves' clothes. Or just think of Sean in general.
The love and support of friends and family - that's what it's all about. You are in my prayers. Thank you for your blog because it gives me a real sense of what you are doing and feeling. Remember your list from before - the good things. Remember them and smile each time you do. I love you. Grandma
You are in my prayers. Remember your good things you wrote about? Remember them each day and smile when you do. Smile about the support and love you have from family and friends. Gosh, remember the time you were in that contest to see who could get the most letters while at boot camp. You won that one hands down!
E-mail me from time to time. I love you very much. Grandma.
Hang in there. This will make you stronger, I promise. Add this to the many life experiences that will make you wiser. I love you.
Hi Mr Rice~
Wish I had something intelligent to say but just know, you are going to come through all this with flying colors. I mean, REALLY flying colors! No guy who is as well spoken, well written, deep thinking as you could come out any other way. There's no telling how many lives & hearts you'll have the opportunity to reach out to & make a difference in on this journey. Embrace them all. {{hugs}} & prayers!

Michael,
Get used to hearing the voice that brings an ocean of joy, because it will always be behind you. Know that when your heart aches, mine aches with you, our hearts are two of one. I am sooooooo proud of you and remember that even in the worst times, when your room mate is a pig or when your only option is a box meal that "this too shall pass". Though I don't want you to forget to cease the moment, be assured that we have alot too look forward to!
You are such a blessing...woof woof
We are all so proud of you. You are strong and smart and you will adapt to your new job and surroundings. Work hard and enjoy the blessings of the day. Life is a gift - even the hardest of days! Take care.
Good morning! A few updates for you:
*Dad has the legal document ready to fax. We need the fax number.
*Stamps went up two cents so the ones I gave you are now out-of-date. If you can't get to a post office for new ones, just use two of the old ones.
Lots more to tell you - call when you can!
We love you lots and are praying for you everyday! Your little brothers send hundreds of hugs and kisses!
