Dude, You Might Be Getting a Dell...

Me: “So, yes, ahem. Well, as you may or may not know, practically everyone my age has a laptop. I will be needing one for Germany and such. You know, the facebook account is like a small animal and needs constant attention. Oh dear, yes, I need a laptop.”

Parental Units: (extremely long pause… look of bewilderment and possibly anger flashes across faces)
“I see.”

It gets very quiet. I’m nodding and bobbing my head up and down, looking into the air at imaginary birds fluttering wildly about the living room. I think of Nikki and know she would understand. A photographer flashes a quick shot from the balcony and I sigh softly, smiling, relieved. I smile at my parents, proud that now they see how difficult life can be with papparazzi and how well I've, well, managed to manage it all.

Parental Units: (visibly upset) “And how exactly do you plan to get the laptop? What is your plan?”

Me: (happy they asked) “Ah! Great question. Valid, yes. As luck would have it, this is the plan. You’re looking at it! It starts with sitting down in front of you. Next, I open my mouth. Then I let the aforementioned words come out: 'Oh dear, yes, I need a laptop.' ”

Silence. Confusion. Dissapointment. Dell notebook. On the way. I hope.

Just in case you don't get my email, here's basically what I said. I'm crying, profusely as I type this to you, at three thirty in the morning, crappy San Marcos time. It's sad, but I don't wanna sadden you as well, so I'll get off of that trip. Anyway, you and Sean both have some awesome pics from your trip thus far, which is really cool, and a perk of going on a road trip, I suppose. In anycase, it's refreshing to see that you're not balling your eyes out about having to leave all of your friends. I mean, I was only a flittering butterfly in your moments here, but I hope I have made a somewhat impact, no matter how small that may be. Anyway, It's good to see ya, in pictures even and I hope the rest of the time you spend with your family goes well. I also can't wait to get back home, though it may not be till the weekend. Anyway......gosh I say that word a lot...anyway.....ANYWAY......umm, I had something to say...but its slowly slipping away, hmm.....OH, yeah it was that I too hope that you get a laptop, I mean that'd make it easier to keep in touch as well, plus I agree, Dell's friggin' rock. K, till we meet again, sweet prince. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest......goodbye michael.

P and M Rock,
A dell it will be. Though I'm not sure, Marisa, what the "kinda" thing means. I've heard some weird stories about how sometimes the dell has frightening and risque modeling photos when booted up. Hmmm... And Pierre, stay strong man--I'll be back in Houston one day. Then we can go to Chili's. Or Katz's. Ski trip today!

Amanda,
It was fuh-reezing! But what a nice pic huh? We're submitting it to the A and F quarterly and holding our breaths.

Nikster,
I'm calling you tomorrow (th.) We need to talk-the paparazzi must be stopped. The holidays, sheesh.
