72 Hours Later: Towns and Things

5

The Last 72 Hours in Photo-Form

We've made it. Liberty Township, about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, greeted us with six inches of snow, a beautiful new home, and lots of hugs. The trip was great--other than a few intense sessions of panic at the thought that I was getting so far from my friends, things went well. A random things...

Some interesting...

Things to hear:
-Jeff Buckley live at Sinee
-Elizabeth Town soundtrack
-A few Deathcab albums
-Billy Joel
-The Strokes
-Ryan Adams
-Damien Rice, Damien Rice, Damien Rice (cannonball was played no less than 25 times)

Things to think:
-The world is so much bigger than Texas
-God knows what He's doing; I often don't. This is cool.
-I love this country.
-I might be falling hard for a girl I hardly know and couldn't be more fine with it
-Walmart bungee cords are modern miracles

Things to see:
-Kentucky unfolding like a post card around every bend through the many winding stretches
-The blankest stares I've ever seen from Burger King (not Wendys!) employees when Sean orders a Frosty in Arkansas.
-A meteor shower at 1am somewhere in Tennesse
-The way Elizabeth town looks like it does in the movie
-Sam Houston, the third largest statue in the country

Town names: (I swear I couldn't make these up even if I tried...)
-Athens
-Palestine (X 2)
-Glasgow
-White House
-Verona
-Texarkana (in a gas station I'm chirping loudly into my cell-phone asking my uncle if Texarkana is a highway name or something. some back woods woman hears this and begins to cackle at me, saying "the boy thinks it's a road; it's a TOWN!", followed by more cackling. I shoot her a dirty glance and mutter defeatedly, "yeah but I know about books and... stuff.")

Michael,

Your adventures through film are quite beautiful. Your blog has successfully detoured nikki for at least 10 mins. 72 hours later, you find us in the same place you left us: Studying in a Lounge and procrastinating for hours on end. continue to take pictures cause Its cool k.

Missing you,

Derek and Nikki
