Almost Too Good Looking...

20

As promised, the reply email from my ballerina instructor, who for the record, tried to hug me today in class. It was awkward and she ended up rubbing my collar bone. Another social casualty... I digress--here it is:

Michael,
I hope you're not saying that you're dropping the class! Please realize you
are a beginner! It is a beginner course and we all have to start
somewhere. You've only been doing this for about 5 weeks, twice a week.
This is all foriegn movement to anyone's body. If you got this right away . .
.
heck, I'd be out of a job. If anything this is probably an eye opener . . .
ballet is not easy!!!!!

One of our facutly's husband and I have actually had this conversation. He
used to take her classes and he said everyday he'd leave pissed. It was
hard for him too because he couldn't go home to his wife and bitch about
the class, because she was the teacher. He's also told me stories about
men is sports who've gone in to take class and are blown away with how
much work and control of the body it takes.

I also want you to realize we are all hard on ourselves no matter what level
we're at. Graduate school broke my heart in the beginning because I
realized I still had so much more to learn. I do even to this day.

I think it's wonderful that you've been inspired and have signed up! Ballet
is a good foundation to learn the basics. Like anything in life, it takes
time.
Give yourself a chance to simply learn the basics and then excel from
there. Please set up some time to come talk with me. My office hours are
M/W 10 - 11. If you can't do that, make an apt.

Since movies are your inspiration I highly recommend the movie Billy
Elliot!

I hope this helps and hope to talk to you more.

Take care,
Kaysie
