The right cohorts, and good at sports//The girls will say, he can do ballet

w

My new thrill of the week: Wicked. The new broadway tour de force that will be in Houston in October. Mema? Are you out there? This is a not so subtle hint...

**

"I am shocked to discover that you are taking ballet. While at first I was infuriated, then contemplated ending our friendship, followed by respect and admiration, I now find myself excited at the prospect of dance-offs."

So writes my close friend John Gammon III, who echoes so many sentiments I have heard over the past few days. When I broke the news of my dancing aspirations I received a fair share of concern, bewilderment, and hate email. It is clear now that this negativity was generated by people who were just jealous they didn't think of it. That was then and this is now.

On Friday the winds began to shift, and I have since then been congratulated, commended, and am reportedly being considered for a Nobel Peace Prize. If I can touch one person with my dance, changing their life for the better, it will be time well spent. If my toe touches and extra tight leotard can spread peace and tranquility to a world gone mad, all the better. Texas State is also considering me for an honorary PhD and faculty position, and I have not even had a chance to call Mr. Flately back.

And for the record I've had no less than two girls offer to help me with my dancing--and I've not even began class. Just think about it guys.

Sean Raybuck: He is my hero. He gets it.

I admire the courage you have to do what you want and not care what other's think. Ballet is pushing it a little, but that's a good thing.. Good luck! :)

Yes, Michael I am "out here." Tell me dates you would be available in October and I will do what I can to get us tickets to Wicked. Let me know asap, please.

I am so glad I have transformed yet another person into a Wicked fan. It's only the best musical ever created. By next week, you'll know every lyric and have the harmonies down perfectly. You just wait.

Sean,
You are still my hero. Though I insist that we wear leotards at all times, regardless of dancing or not.

I used to dance ballet, and all I know is that:
1) boys who dance ballet have the nicest bodies
2) what girl doenst love a guy who is a little more flexible than the average guy
3) what guy wouldnt want to be around a bunch of girls wearing next to nothing, and
4) what guy wouldnt want to be "forced" to put his hands on the barely clothed girl and pick her up or toss her around

I honestly do not know why guys are not standing in line for this class???

I say good for you, and enjoy it :)
