Howie Day Almost Got to Meet ME

Keep scrolling down to read about my inability to speak to Howie when he's 5 feet in front of me...

Waiting for the doors to open at Stubb's...

Up and coming Michael Tolcher opened the show--kind of like a harder rocking Jason Mraz...

Michael Tolcher VS Michael Rice, after the show, after a fight breaks out over whether or not Howie has cooler hair than me. (Of course Howie wins big time, but I was just being generally difficult)

The drummer from Michael Tolcher's band. After immediately running out of things to say, I exclaimed, "Well Andy here was in marching band in high school. He played the drums too!" It gets really quiet...

And then there was Howie... Easily the best show I've seen in a long time. After the show we waited outside the tour bus for about 30 minutes (during which time the fight about hair erupted). Eventually there were only about 5 of us out there waiting and we realized that we are certainly going to get to talk with him and snap some pictures.

In my mind I had planned to say this: "Hey Howie. Great set tonight. We were wondering if we could get some pictures. You even once signed my guitar in Houston, but you probably forgot that. And by the way, what kind of product do you use in your hair? Hey man, great to meet you, man." So finally he comes walking up to the bus, all angsty and brooding like, and instead of saying my rehearsed dialogue, I just stare at him. He gets about 5 feet away and I swear, I don't say a single freakin word. All I am able to do is raise my chin a couple notches, arch my eyebrows, and give him a look that says, "Well maybe you should be asking me for my autograph. I play guitar in church, have spikey hair, and have a blog. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to be in it."

And though I say this a lot, and it might have lost its meaning, it was the worst. What is wrong with me? Really.

It seems that you have a certain knack for either awesome situations or awkward situations. You always get good pictures though and have funny stories so it's really good.&

UMMMM.... this is one of the funniest stories/blogs I have seen. I'm really glad to hear that you brought up the hair. And I'm also glad to find that I'm not the only ridiculously star-struck person I know.

Nikki,
That's awesome! I'm glad you liked it :) It's so funny though that I got so star struck--he's like 24, not threatening at all, but yeah... I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes.

And A,
His hair was perfect. The whole set--the heat, humidity, sweat; none of it mattered. I still remember the time you told me you like my hair. It keeps me up at night smiling to be honest.

Michael,
Your hair in the climbing picture looks a bit long... It might be time for a trip to the barber. But still, it's really really ridiculously good looking.
