This is semi-interesting. While dorm sitting for Kelly I've spent the last hour reading a thirty page essay on the dominance of analytical philosophy in contemporary America. Then I read this blurb about Pedro the Lion (contemporary Christian rockers) in Spin magazine:

David Bazan (lead singer) is happily remarried. His breakup was with the evangelical church in which he grew up, and man, is he not over it. "You were too busy steering the conversation toward the Lord," he sings, "to hear the voice of the Spirit telling you to shut the fuck up."

The philosophy article and music blurb could not be more strikingly different. But one thing they have in common is this: I have no freakin idea what either are talking about.

Weird quote.

I re-read that quote a couple of times because I didn't really understand it and I felt dumb. Then I read your last sentence and it made me feel better. That's all. Have a nice day. :)

Maybe he's trying to say we take hold of the way to live the Christian life and make it up on our own with standards, rules and methods instead of allowing the Spirit to speak to our heart about the things that we are concerned about and the way we conduct our lives?

I still have to side with Nikki. Really, what IS he talking about??

The voice of the Spirit is kinder than that!
