Jumps and CRU: Both a Bit Rocky

aa1

Remember the Second Wonder of San Marcos: The Old Mill? Yesterday the Lunar Module and I jumped from the tall part. It's about 30 feet, but the tricky part is landing. If you look closely you can actually see the rocks under the water. The water depth where you land is about five feet, so you really have to bounce right off it. So Dan and Sean, whenever you guys are ready we'll do it again.

Last night was the first highly anticipated Summer CRU. Wait. Last night was just like every other night-Matt Luna and I hanging out together.

Last night was supposed to be the first Summer CRU. At about 7:30 we started getting a bit nervous since no one had showed up. "Oh, everyone's probably at the old place, and didn't remember we're having it at the CRU office tonight. They'll be here soon," Matt said. "Oh yeah! Just a few more minutes and this place will be PACKED!" I reassured him. 7:35, 7:40, 8:00...

Um yeah. No one showed up.

But the best part is we STILL WENT THROUGH WITH EVERYTHING. We made post it notes of a few CRUites and stuck them up on the wall. Kari, Sandy, Corrie, and Sean were all in attendance. At least on paper. So we played through all the songs, Matt muttered something about "a bucket", and we talked about spiritual refreshment. It was only later that night, after a lonely dinner at Taco C's, as we sat on the West campus field waiting for everyone to show up for Ultimate Frisbee that we realized Summer CRU didn't really work out.

And yes, just in case you're wondering, I consciously passed on the "no one showed up for frisbee because they were sticking around (post it notes, sigh) at the CRU office" joke.

Michael - Absolutely do not make that jump again. Are you crazy? Just read Joni Eareckson's bio sometime if it's not already clear what can happen.

And you can tell them your mom said so!

I don't want to usurp parental authority, but when I come to visit, I'm down Michael.

It's a good thing you all are such a tight group of friends. That way, when one of you breaks your back, you'll have friends to push you around campus in your shiny new wheelchair.

That is crazy.....if you break your neck you will be able to read many more books, all the time....That's not too smart...I know I do crazy stuff, but I make sure it is safe before doing so...

Be right with the Man upstairs and do what you enjoy..... if it's your time, He will call even if you're sitting in a safe comfy chair reading a book!!

My fav quote, "If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room"!

I don't think people think anything by the time they're lying in a casket Kenny - but I get your point. I totally disagreet though.

By the way... We tested the waters and calculated the place to land. Actually, we spent about 10 minutes making sure it was possible. It really wasn't that big of a deal. Much ado about nothing.

Real McCoy, just a question... If weighing all the consequences of your actions results in coming up with safety, what part of safe makes it crazy? Sometimes faith requires the jump.
