Along Came Awkward (A Social Exploration of CRU Guys Watching a PG-13 Movie)

a

It’s so funny how sometimes we forget the things that we like. Last night I spent some time with Matt Laqoure, and like rediscovering an old CD I used to love or a favorite movie I haven’t seen in a while, I remembered how much I enjoy hanging out with guys. Naturally I tend to gravitate towards girls, but there was something about sitting around drinking single malt scotch, listening to jazz, and talking about life that was just felt a bit more honest and relaxing. On second thought, it could have just been the scotch.

We eventually made our way over to some girl’s house where a group of CRUites were watching Along Came Polly. This movie has a (deep breath everyone) make out scene in which Ben Stiller capriciously slaps Jennifer Anniston on the ass. Horror of horrors! For some reason, the guys (Josh Bronlewee, Matt, and Morgan) began to act as though on a midnight stroll they had happened upon their own graves. Luckily, these guys really knew how to make an awkward situation (read: not an awkward situation at all) less awkward (read: incredibly awkward).

Morgan began to fidget around and become flush, finally blurting out, “So Josh, ahem, I heard you got a new bike.”
Josh clears his throat and almost yells, “Yeah man, uh, it has pegs on it.”
Morgan, completely red at this point cries out, “Geez, you’ll have to give me a ride sometime!”
(Matt has crawled under the table)

I just sat there looking at Taylor rolling my eyes. She says, “Haven’t you guys ever seen a movie?” Well, not a PG-13 movie Taylor.

Whoa, wait, I thought you were talking about Cool Shorts Matt (Luna? Is that it?) in the email. Which Matt is Laqoure? I met too many new people last night to remember everyone... :(

I'm totally smiling after reading that. That movie is, in my opinion, pretty lame anyway.

The title has some truth in it though, some PG-13 movies can have their akward moments, mainly because it's a PG-13 movie and people aren't expecting akward moments.

A good guide: If Jesus was sitting beside me now (and He is!), would I be comfortable watching this movie, telling this joke, reading this magazine, repeating this gossip, etc.?

Jesus probably heard his fair share of dirty jokes when he was eating and hanging out with prostitutes and "sinners".

This is not a refutation of the previous comment...it's just an observation that I wanted to throw in there.
