Moving Beyond Labels: Eschatology

The progressive/emergent label that has been slapped onto some circles of Christianity has been gaining popularity and perhaps credibility. If such alterations make Christianity more fashionable, acceptable, or are even necessary in a relativistic, pluralistic, and postmodern world is an interesting debate. Myles wrote an article today that moves beyond the conflict between titles such as progressive and fundamental, drawing attention to a more important branch of theology: eschatology.

In an age where Christianity has become so entrenched in the cultural lingo and where a cross is no longer a cross but a fashion statement, groups like this are necessary to wrestle with questions like "how do culture and faith interact?" and "how do we understand a pluralist society as Christians?"...
A better term than progressive? I'll vote for one that's gotten a terrible reputation thanks to the Tim LaHayes and the dispensationalists: eschatological. Mouthful? Yes. Trendy? No. Accurate? Absolutely.
