23 Years Down

dailyricepot

The story began how all good stories begin: a boy, cool hair, and a pot. That was of course quite some time ago, and I’d like to say things are different, but I’m not sure if I can. Deep down I remain essentially the same… a boy, cooler hair, no pot though.

23 Things That Keep Life Great (no particular order)

1) My Jeep
2) Austin, Bill and John
3) The vague notion of graduation
4) The ability to make mistakes
5) Armpits
6) Andy’s sci-fi conspiracies
7) That fateful night at Meteor
8) Renewed friendships (John)
9) My guitar
10) The Daily Rice
11) Charlie Rose
12) Music
13) My hair
14) Delusions of grandeur
15) The girls in my life
16) Birkenstock sandals
17) My family
18) Fitzgerald
19) Christ
20) My mom
21) Blue eyes
22) Health
23) The at times wonderful, bizarre, enraging, great, insane, disjointed, graceful, kind, and lovely cast of characters that have made the past 23 years ones that I’d never change or trade for anything in the world.

Michael - Happy Birthday to you! I love you more than you can know and, just like 22 years ago when you couldn't get out of that pot, I'm here to help you in every way I can. You are one of my many "diamonds on the dusty road." You bring me joy!

Any movie involving lost+found brothers will have a song sung by the brothers their blind mother (but of course, she has to be blind in order to regain her sight in the climax) the family dog/cat. The amazing thing is that these folks remember the song after 20 years in the movie, and you can't remember it 2 minutes after coming out of the theatre.

Hey Michael,

I just wanted to publically say Happy Birthday and I hope that your 23rd birthday was a good one. I hope school is going well....(it seems like I have been asking that for awhile now) and your life is going great! Happy Happy Happy birthday. You are a very smart young man and you will have a great life once you decide to graduate and pick a career. Hang in there with school you should almost be done! How exciting 23!!!!You have grown old very quickly. Where does time go. Any gray hairs yet? Just kidding with ya! You are the best and I enjoy your blogs. You should be a writer!!! Maybe Captain of the Enterprise....you would make a good Shatner...you could quote philosophy to your men....Happy Birthday!!!! and keep up the good work!

So really... what's with the story about the song and blind mother? Just type your name at the end of the message.... I'm reeling from some of these anonymous comments! In a good way I suppose!
